Mummy and Joy had the sad job of taking down the Christmas tree today. We were one day late but that’s okay because the tree was still pretty healthy and we enjoyed having it around.

The weather was so nice today that Uncle Vince and Uncle Chris were working outside in short sleeve t-shirts. Thanks global warming!

Christmas is officially over when Grandma and Grandad have to be taken back to the airport for the long flight back to England. Luke make the trek to Braintree and despite the photo below, Mommy did not drive on the sidewalk all the way!

The Holidays means lot’s of visitors. Today the Campbell’s of California stopped in and it was great to catch up. Luke and Joy spent some quality time with Brooklyn and Declan and in the Holiday Spirit, incredible “sharing” was demonstrated by all. The new kid’s kitchen remains a hit.

When it was time to go there were hugs and kisses all around!

Happy Boxing Day!

Every one had a great sleep last night. The Christmas Day excitement caught Luke and Joy lying in a little later than normal but everybody was up by 7:00 am.

With 5 British citizens in the house this week, there was no way of avoiding celebrating Boxing Day. I always wondered how Boxing Day came about, so I went to Wikipedia which provides some interesting ideas most of which revolve around British servants and boxes. Nothing definitive but great to celebrate nonetheless!

Luke and Joy received a Magic Box from their Japanese Uncle Haruki and it was only fitting to open it on Boxing Day. As usual it was full of surprises!!!

It has been a great Christmas in Mattapoisett!

Before going to bed on Christmas Eve Luke and Joy took a stroll around Shipyard Park sprinkling reindeer food along the way. Then we all went to the end of the long wharf and Luke waved his Magic Wand in case Santa’s sleigh was in the neighborhood.  We didn’t see anything but we could definitely hear bells jingling off in the distance. When we got home we left a bowl of reindeer on the deck and a bowl of popcorn and a glass of milk under the Christmas tree and al l went to bed.

Early the Christmas morning, before the sun came up, there was a racket on the roof and when we got up stairs there was nothing in sight except 2 empty bowls and an empty glass and lots of presents for Luke and Joy!

Grandma, Grandad, Nanna and Buppa all spent the day with us and needless to say it was really fun. Joy loves her new kitchen and Luke enjoyed playing Penny in the slot machine with Grandma. As usual, never a dull moment with the Mattapoisett Mellos!
