Wow, Luke and Joy had a busy day today! Mommy’s been sick but woke up this morning feeling much better. That meant she had to get crackin’ on her presentation for Monday’s BIG meeting with a BIG client! So daddy took Luke and Joy to breakfast at Shipyard Galley and then off we went to Parlow Farms to see farmer Rockwell and pick up our veggies. We took a little spin around Marion and stopped briefly at daddy’s friends, the Barry’s. A little wiffle ball in Shipyard Park, followed by a nap and we were ready to go to Family Fun Day at the Casino where we ran into all kinds of friends including Brendan and May Kate. There was a Nemo water slide, which Luke enjoyed and Joy didn’t, and lots of other fun games.

The kid band Blackout pleased the crowd with a couple of sets.

Tonite, Secret played in the gazebo and Luke “stayed up later” with daddy, 9:00 pm , the end of the concert. It was a cool, crystal clear night and Daddy and Luke scouted the sky for falling stars. Daddy also taught Luke about the Big Dipper and how to find the North Star.

All in all, today was a great adventure!

Today  was the second day of the Mattapoisett 150 celebrations and Mommy, Nanna, Daddy and Luke rode bikes out to Ned’s Point for the Family picnic where the Congregational Church provided free lemonade and watermelon. Joy ride on the back of Daddy’s Bike and Buppa met us there in his Model A. We saw lots of people including Uncle Phil, who took this picture, and Auntie Sharon. We also saw the McIntires and Brenden got to ride in Buppa’s rumble seat with Luke and Joy around the Ned’s Point parking lot.

It’s a big today as cousin Matthew is visiting from England. Last time we saw him he was Baby Matthew, but not any longer. Matthew and his cousins splashed and stomped around all day together and got along famously. At dinnertime Joy introduced Matthew to Boston baked beans and Crazy Bug pasta. What a treat!

Luke and Joy at Nanna's

It’s been a tough week for the MattapoisettMellos. Despite being pretty sick Mummy had a business trip on Monday and Tuesday. Daddy took Luke and Joy to Nanna’s house for dinner on Tuesday and Luke ended up staying over. Wednesday morning Luke had a bit of a relapse and then Joy got sick too. Mummy came home and hasn’t been able to shake her cough. Daddy’s standing by to get sick any day now. 😦

Grand Cayman seems so long ago!

Joy and Ian flying

The weekend ended on a highnote when Luke and Joy’s friend Ian called this morning. He brought his mom and dad over this afternoon and everyone had a great time catching up.

Mummy cooked a delicious roast beef and the Red Sox ice cream and M&M cookies were a hit for dessert.

It was great to see Luke feeling better today since he was out of commission yesterday. He even missed swimming! But Joy didn’t. She actually swam “all by self” for the first time.
