Luke and Joy’s friend Madeleine celebrated her 3rd birthday today and she invited them to a picnic party in the gazebo with her brother Will, sister Elizabeth, Mommy, Daddy, Grandmother and Granddad. Mummy was their too. The weather wasn’t very nice but that didn’t matter. There was great food and big balloons which are always fun in gale force winds.

Luke and Joy at Nanna's

It’s been a tough week for the MattapoisettMellos. Despite being pretty sick Mummy had a business trip on Monday and Tuesday. Daddy took Luke and Joy to Nanna’s house for dinner on Tuesday and Luke ended up staying over. Wednesday morning Luke had a bit of a relapse and then Joy got sick too. Mummy came home and hasn’t been able to shake her cough. Daddy’s standing by to get sick any day now. 😦

Buppa and Luke at the Kinsale Inn

It snowed last night but not too much. Good thing because Luke and Joy each brought special Valentines Day cookies that Mummy baked last night to their schools today.

Mummy, Luke and Joy gave Daddy a beautiful Mondaine watch which is the Official Watch of the Swiss Railway. Wow, that’s sure to be an accurate watch, cool looking too!. Daddy, Luke and Joy gave Mummy a new iPod Nano so she can listen to music and podcasts during her business trips.

Luke, Joy, Nanna, Buppa, Mummy and Daddy all went to the Kinsale Inn for dinner.

Sunday Morning Field Trip to Look at Art in Boston

Mummy, Joy and Luke at the ICA Boston

This morning we took a field trip to an art museum in Boston. The Institute of Contemporary Art just opened their new home a few months ago.

The first work that we encountered in the lobby was The Divine Gas by Chiho Aohsima. It is a very large (30′ high x 60′ wide) painting of a young girl lying in the grass and as Luke was quick to discern she was making a “poopy” cloud. A perfect beginning for a 3 year old art critic!

Outside was a much larger than life Parrot phone booth which reminded Joy and Luke of their friend “Alpha” at The Wreck Bar on Grand Cayman (although it was about 60 degrees colder!)

One of Daddy’s favorite artists is Cornelia Parker and Luke liked her too although he thought it looked like wood burned from a fire, which in fact it was. He may have a future in art criticism!

After the great trip to the ICA in the morning, Mummy, Luke and Joy were inspired to make some art of their own.

Another exciting adventure for the MattapoisettMellos.
